Who Am I - Part I?My son announced to me today, on his way out the door, that I am listed as alternative punk on Itunes. I have not had a
moment to follow up with him on how he knows this but no matter. I am humbled that he took the time to look and that I am
listed on Itunes at all. I can only guess that this is on the occasion of the forthcoming release of my latest CD, Meaning
What Exactly. The official release date is Nov. 13, 2009 but apparently the wheels of progress are grinding along and
the CD's profile is showing up on Itunes. That's pretty cool. I am however a bit surprised by the alternative
punk moniker. Not that I mind. I actually have no idea what my proper moniker should be. It's always been difficult for
me when people ask, "what kind of music do you play?" I want to say, "what ever the hell I feel like playing."
A bit brash that would be so I refrain and try to find something intelligent to say. But maybe such a response fits the alternative
punk genre of which I am now a proud member. The label alternative punk by itself is a bit confusing to me. It has
always been my understanding that punk is alternative. So, to say alternative punk is to say alternative alternative, which
is to say, regular. Maybe even pop. So if this means my CD will now be shooting to the top of the charts alongside Taylor
Swift and Kanye West than I say bring it on. When I receive my award I will be sure to hold onto the microphone firmly lest
it is wrested from my shaking hand by an over-exuberant pop star.
