| John Richey has been
playing guitar since he was just a pup. You may notice that he
plays left-handed, but that the guitar is strung right-handed.
Why the weirdness?? He explains that it is because when he was
seven years old and learning how to play, he liked his dad’s
guitar, (which was right handed), better than his own left-hander.
So he just took his dad’s guitar, turned it upside down,
and reversed everything he was learning. Odd as it seems, there
are some famous guitar players who play this way--Dick Dale; Albert
King; Coco Montoya; Doyle Bramhall II......So maybe he’s
not as weird as he seems. In addition to the Lemmings, John currently
plays with Afterwork, and used to play in the
now-defunct Nortons and Ellie & The Clampetts. He tends to
favor single-coil left handed guitars, like his ‘96 Anniversary
Strat and his Telecaster ‘52 Reissue, but has lately expanded
his horizons and acquired a G&L ASAT–Deluxe Semi-Hollow
with humbuckers. He is currently involved in a passionate affair
with his Dr. Z Maz 38 amp, (or so his wife says). You may see him
roaming the halls of the Courthouse, maintaining his status as
a faceless bureaucrat. Of course if you see him there, just mention
music--he'll talk with you all day long......... |
